Hunger Games Music

This is a list of things I heard at some point and went "ooooh Hunger Games" and/or things I listen to while writing, just mostly so I can find it again later, but also in case anyone is interested. Mostly because I spent half the day working on the 72nd games and I am all out of feelings so have some music:

In general:

Vieux Farka Touré and Dave Matthews: All the same
The whole thing and especially the video is just perfect, but submitted for your consideration:

Oh look at me cause I believed
Ive prayed in their temples down on my knees
I turned my back, felt the knife sink deep
Look at them theyʼre all the same
Take everything, itʼs a crying shame
And it might take sweet but itʼs a wicked game

Alkaline Trio: Live Young Die Fast
I mean obviously with a title like that...
Live young, die fast
No one will last
So sit back and relax
Enjoy the crash
You're fading to black and it's gone
Live young, die fast

And I feel a miracle
In every breath that I breathe
Won't let this miracle
End in tragedy
I sense a miracle
In all that I see
Won't let this miracle
Slip away from me

Postwar (Canon Divergence because veto canon always):
New Pornographers: Adventures in Solitude

More than begin
But less than forget
But spirits born
From the not happened yet
Gathering there to pay off a debt brought back from the wars

We thought we lost you
Welcome back

The war/the end of the world and for some reason District Nine in particular (or at least my agrarian cyberpunk dystopia version):

Godspeed You Black Emperor: Dead Flag Blues
Mostly for the perfect haunting sound but also:

The skyline was beautiful on fire
All twisted metal stretching upwards
Everything washed in a thin orange haze
I said, "Kiss me, you're beautiful -
These are truly the last days"

District Six

D6 is mostly punk music, grey and gritty and furious

This one particularly is Sara and Rokia:
Gaslight Anthem: Navesink Banks

And I spent time 'neath the trestles
With the punks and the dime store saints
Kept faith and a switchblade stuffed beneath my coat
And I ran with dirty angels, slept out in the rain
We were scared and tired and barely 17

And my first sin was a fear that made me old
My first sin was a fear that made me old

Sara and Rokia wartime heartbreak:
David Gray: My Oh My
lyrics: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/davidgray/myohmy.html
My oh my you know it just don't stop
It's in my mind I wanna tear it up
I've tried to fight it tried to turn it off
But it's not enough
It takes a lotta love
It takes a lotta love my friend
To keep your heart from freezing
To push on till the end

These two are Sara (who is the Gryffindor "fuck it, let's burn it down" to Rokia's Ravenclaw):

Against Me!
Those Anarcho-Punks Are Mysterious

Start taking back what they stole-
sure beats every other option,
But does it make a difference how we get it?
Well do you really fucking get it?

The Politics of Starving
When you are so hungry that you'd believe anything.
Well they're selling you the politics of starving.

This one's Rokia
Against Me! Bamboo Bones
Don't let them break you.
Don't let them tell you who you are.

And this one is a little bit Rokia and a little just D6 generally and a little just a good song:
Gaslight Anthem: Boxer
(lyrics: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/gaslightanthem/boxer.html)
You took it all gracefully on the chin
Knowing that the beatings had to someday end

And this is D6 in the war:
The Lawrence Arms: Bonfire Park
(lyrics: http://www.plyrics.com/lyrics/lawrencearms/bonfirepark.html)
Ain't nothing really left here of me
This city was built to burn
I rise with the dancing flames

And for something totally different but also perfect for Rokia and her sisters postwar, thanks to xanify for the following video:
Avicii:Wake Me Up
Not a lyric but in the video the little girl says "Where are we going?" and the big sister responds "Somewhere we belong" and I about screamed.

And finally, just because they provided fic titles (although the rest of the lyrics aren't particularly relevant):
Bad Religion: All there is
There's space for a paper airplane race in the eye of a hurricane

Gaslight Anthem: Bring it On
Give me the fevers that just won't break
And give me the children you don't wanna raise
